Met in totaal 16 deelnemende boten is deze Grand Prix of the Sea totnogtoe de meest succesvolle van dit seizoen. Het podium van de evolution klasse was een Italiaanse aangelegenheid met SNAV OSG, Cigarette Smash Poker en Metamarine Pignolo 53. Dit laatste team speelde thuis. Net buiten het ereschavot eindigde Searex Cranefields Wine (Gino Passchier en Mark Niemann) met een 4de plaats. Eindelijk komen ze in the picture door hun prestaties. Furnibo 2B1 geraakte als enige deelnemer niet tijdig klaar met het monteren van de uit België overgekomen reservemotor. Het blijft een raadsel hoe de Mercury een dergelijke schade kon oplopen. Hoe dan ook, morgen zullen ze in de endurance race vooral gericht zijn op het halen van het nodige aantal laps om punten binnen te halen. In de supersport klasse behaalde Masforce (Patrick Huybreghts, Micha Robijn en Marc Sluszny) een 5de plaats. Dat leverde mooie punten op en het blijft een team dat steevast en heel regelmatig racet. De zee vandaag was voor hun Nor-Tech te kalm; ruwer water levert hen voordeel op maar de condities heeft niemand in de hand. Seagull Chaudron haalde nipt de eerste plaats (zie foto boven) op Baia Attolini. Het vrouwenteam Ikocasa mocht ook dit keer weer op het podium staan. With a total of 16 teams this Grand Prix of the Sea is the most succesful to far. The podium was an italian party with SNAV OSG, Cigarette Smash Poker and Metamarine Pignolo 53. Searex Cranefields Wine (Gino Passchier and Mark Niemann) achieved a nice 4th position. Finally they come into the picture with their performance. Furnibo 2B1 couldn't make the starting line in time although their spare engine was mounted but not fully operational. It's still a riddle how the Mercury got damaged. Anyway, tomorrow they will try to be there in the endurance race making enough laps to gain points. In de supersport class Masforce (Patrick Huybreghts, Micha Robijn and Marc Sluszny) ended 5th. This means good points for this team that races solid. Their Nor-Tech likes a rougher sea but no one controlls mother nature. Seagull Chaudron got hold of the number one position only by a blink of an eye leaving Baia Attolini in second. The all girls team Ikocasa mounted the podium again. What a day!
